middleton, manchester
Sometimes if a tooth or teeth cannot be saved then removal is required. This is known as dental extraction.
Teeth can be removed for a number of reasons. These include:
- Teeth that are decayed beyond restoration.
- Teeth that have fractured or broken perhaps as a result of trauma.
- Sometimes teeth need to be removed to make space as part of orthodontic treatment which may involve braces.
- Periodontal (gum) disease may cause teeth to become loose and therefore require removal.
- Wisdom teeth are removed if they get infected repeatedly.
- Where conventional restorations by means of fillings or root canal treatment have failed teeth may require extraction.
- Patients may present with extra supplemental or supernumerary teeth that require removal.
